Registration:

Please send your rosters to Jeff Semmens (jsemmens0@gmail.com) by Thursday, August 25^th at 11:59pm. On your rosters, I will need each player's name, board position (or alternate indication), and a list of any byes that they may need.

Sections:

There will be a Team section which will include the top 5 players from each school. Any additional players from each school are welcome to attend and play in an Alternates section.

2016 AIA Individual Invitational Chess Tournament

WHEN:          Friday – Saturday, September 23-24, 2016

WHERE:        Catalina Foothills High School

                        4300 East Sunrise Drive

                        Tucson, AZ 85718 (520-209-8300)

DIRECTIONS: Take I-10 to Ina Road Exit, and go east for a long time (10 miles or so). Ina becomes Sunrise/Skyline, and then Sunrise again. If you hit Swan Road you have gone too far.

ARRIVAL TIMES: Please arrive, beginning around 3:45 pm (school gets out at 3:30 pm), at Catalina Foothills High School. You can park in the parking lot off Sunrise. The tournament will be held in the cafeteria.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES:

Please pre-register all entrants by emailing Jeff Semmens, Chief TD at jsemmens0@gmail.com with copy to Robby Adamson robzadamson@msn.com with the following information no later than 5:00 pm, Thursday, September 22, 2016 (Registration by Wednesday, September 21 is strongly preferred).

1.      Coach’s name, email address and cell phone #

2.      Name of School

3.      Name, year and current AIA rating of each entrant

4.      Section (Varisty or Junior Varsity)

**Confirmations will be sent for each email registration. Please do not register at the last minute!

REGISTRATION FEES: Please mail registration fees in the amount of $50.00, payable to Catalina Foothills Chess, to 4300 E Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718. Individuals without a team pay $10 per player.

SECTIONS:               2 sections – Varsity and Junior Varsity (AIA Rating 499-below); 5 rounds

TIME CONTROL:   Game in 70 min with 5 second delay. 

BYES:                        Maximum of two-half point byes.

Round 1                     Friday - 4:30 pm

Round 2                     Friday - 7:30 pm

Round 3                     Saturday – 9:00 am

Coaches meeting        Saturday – 9:15 am

Round 4                     Saturday – 11:45 pm

Round 5                     Saturday – 2:15 pm

Awards                       After last round (approximately 4:45 pm).
